Frequently Asked Questions on
SUP
What is SUP?
The abbreviation for stand up paddle boarding, plus it sounds cool!
Where do I meet for my class, event, tour, or rental?
We operate at several different locations, so it’s important to double-check your booking confirmation. The meeting spot is listed right next to the event name—make sure to note it before heading out!
What happens if rain is forecasted the day I am scheduled to paddle board?
Safety is always our top priority. If inclement weather is expected, your guide will decide if cancellation is necessary at least 90 minutes before your scheduled start time. While we don’t offer refunds for weather-related cancellations (since that’s out of our control), you’ll receive a credit equal to your booking amount. This credit never expires and can be used toward any future class, service, or event.
What if I need to cancel my reservations?
Cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance are eligible for a full refund. If you cancel less than 48 hours before your scheduled time, you will receive a credit. Credits never expire and can be used towards a future service or event.
What equipment is provided?
All necessary paddleboarding equipment is provided for your class or rental. If you have your personal flotation device (PFD), we recommend bringing it to ensure the best fit. For children 12 and under, please bring a properly fitted, Coast Guard-approved PFD.
Do I have to wear a PFD (personal floatation device)?
We strongly recommend wearing your PFD at all times for safety. May 1–October 31: You may keep your PFD secured on your board, November 1–April 30: A PFD must be worn due to cold water regulations, Children 12 and under are required to wear a PFD at all times, regardless of the time of season.
What is the minimum age for children?
Children must be at least 10 years old to participate in a class on their own board. Kids under 10 are welcome to ride on a parent’s board for free during most sessions. Participants aged 10–17 must be accompanied by an adult, unless it’s a youth-specific class. All participants under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.
Can I use my own board for classes, events, & tours?
Yes! You’re welcome to bring your own gear. Use code "BYOB" at checkout to receive a discount. Please note: When using your own equipment, you are responsible for bringing all essential items, including a valid PA launch permit if required for the location.
Will I fall paddle boarding?
Stand-up paddleboarding is a water sport, so there's always a chance you might get wet! That said, the boards we use for classes and rentals are extra stable and designed with beginners in mind. All beginners will receive an on-land demo before getting on the water to help you feel confident and prepared.
What time should I arrive
Please arrive at least 10 minutes early so you're ready to begin on time—classes start promptly. If you're bringing your own gear, be sure to allow extra time to unload and/or inflate your board before the session begins.
What do I need to bring/wear to paddle board?
You don’t need a bathing suit—just wear something comfortable and okay to get wet. Most people wear knee-length yoga pants or shorts with a tee or tank. We recommend bringing: a dry change of clothes for after class, a towel, sunscreen, and water bottle. Avoid bringing valuables on the water-sunglasses and phones don’t float!
